Digital Transformation– During Industry 3.0 factories began to add industrial controls like computers, networkable machines, and robotics to help automate manufacturing processes. Now, with the sophisticated instrumentation available on new manufacturing equipment, along with standard machine data exchange and the ability to communicate across platforms, Industry 4.0 brings connectivity.
Connectivity – Now that there are multiple vendors providing networkable machines and equipment along with environmental controls such as HVAC & Lighting, there is a need to have an open platform that can interface to this smart equipment. The Xencom Elemco user interface utilizes HTML5 programming and has open drivers such as; BacNet, Modbus or Ethernet/IP. It can also, in some cases, integrate via legacy software drivers or share information through APIs for industrial control.
